14 Rotating Beer Taps: How Our Craft Beer Lineup Works
Some bars run 4 taps that never change for months. Then there's Rock N Hopz, with 14 rotating tap lines that keep moving. Come in on a Monday and swing back on Thursday, and odds are two or three taps have already changed. That's on purpose.
Why rotate so much?
Same reason you don't eat the same meal every day — variety makes things more interesting. And draft beer has a shelf life: an IPA sitting three weeks in the keg loses freshness, loses aroma, loses the whole point.
Our philosophy is simple: fresh beer, real variety, and always something new to discover. If every visit felt the same, why come back?
How we choose what's on tap
Every week we decide what goes in and what comes out based on:
- Freshness: We prioritize kegs that just came in. Packaging date matters.
- Style variety: We always aim to cover the major styles — at least one IPA, one craft lager/pilsner, something Belgian, something dark, and a Canarian beer.
- Season: More light, refreshing beers in summer. More stouts and heavier beers in winter.
- Feedback: If a tap empties fast, we know that beer landed. If it drags, we learn from it.
- New stuff: We always hold 2-3 lines for things we've never poured — limited editions, collabs, new breweries.
The typical lineup across our 14 taps
Even though it changes weekly, our tap list usually follows this structure:
- 3-4 IPAs — Always at least one NEIPA/Hazy, one West Coast, and one Session
- 2 craft Lagers/Pilsners — For anyone after something clean and crisp
- 2 Belgians — Tripel, Blonde, Witbier in rotation
- 1-2 Stouts/Porters — Even in summer, the demand never really drops
- 1-2 Canarian beers — TACOA, Tierra de Perros, La Armada
- 1 Sour/Fruit — For the adventurous palates
- 1-2 Wildcards — Whatever surprised us that week
Draft vs. bottle: when to order which
Order draft when:
- You want the freshest possible version of a beer
- You're after IPAs (hops lose aroma over time — draft is always the better call)
- You're not sure what to order (you can taste before you commit)
- You want a small pour or a jarra/pitcher (draft only)
Order bottle when:
- You're after a specific style that's not on tap
- You want something aged or built to cellar (Belgians, barleywines, imperial stouts)
- You want to take something home
- You're after alcohol-free or gluten-free beer (more options in bottle)
Can you taste before you order?
Yes, always. Asking for a taste of a draft beer isn't an inconvenience — it's part of the service. We'll pour you a small sample so you can decide. Don't like it, we try another. This is a craft beer bar, not a vending machine.
